Professor Finkelstein is a cardiologist who heads the cardiac catheterization department at Ikhilov Medical Center. He is in private practice at the Assuta Clinic, where he specializes in interventional cardiology.

He performs diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization for ischemic heart disease and myocardial infarctions. The professor uses modern models of drug-coated and self-absorbing stents to dilate narrowed arteries.

The professor has performed hundreds of transcatheter heart valve replacement surgeries. Such surgical interventions do not require opening the chest: they are performed through a thin tube – a catheter. The department he heads has introduced transcatheter implantation of innovative CoreValve aortic valves. This gentle procedure is performed even for patients over 80 years old. In terms of effectiveness, it is superior to drug treatment, being much safer than open-heart surgery. To date, more than 100 people have already undergone CoreValve implantation under the guidance of the professor.
