Professor Gideon Uretsky was one of Israel’s best Cardiac Surgeons, possessing profound knowledge in Cardiothoracic Surgery. He performed highly complex, advanced surgical interventions on the heart, including transapical aortic valve replacement and mitral valve repair/replacement.
The Professor operated on patients with cardiovascular pathologies and, at various times, headed the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at several major medical centers, including Assuta and Ichilov.

Academic and scientific activities
Professor Uretsky earned his professorial title through teaching and scientific work at Tel Aviv University and the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
His scientific papers, published in numerous international medical journals, focused on:
- Diagnostic problems of Dissecting Aortic Aneurysm.
- Toxic effects of Protamine and Nitric Oxide on the heart.
- Cardiomyoplasty—a new method of surgical intervention on the heart.
